Cleaner Greener Glasgow is a virtual interactive experience simulating an old desktop of a climate researcher looking into alternative sustainability methods. Explore and experience the simulated adaptations to the modern Glasgow high street with integrated sustainability methods already utilised across the globe in Singapore. With the COP26 Climate Conference on the near horizon, this experience looked into improvements possible on the home front to tackle the climate crisis.

ABOUT MY WORK
As the COP26 Climate Conference was only a number of weeks away, the project brief for Co-Lab 1 was to produce a piece with inspiration taken from sustainability methods and how this application would work in Glasgow. As such, I had found great inspiration in the sustainability methods employed currently in Singapore, such as rainwater recycling, ecobrutalist architechture, etc.
Cleaner Greener Glasgow was designed using the Fungus visual scripting package in Unity to create a continuous and fluid flow of interaction for the player to partake in. The desktop simulation design was created in such a way to provide particular homage to the older PC operating systems, and create a nostalgic, comfortable visual experience to offset the uncomfortable content surrounding the climate crisis.
For the material within the simulation, all artwork was designed and implemented by myself, including digitally drawn street view images of three of Glasgow’s city centre streets (St Vincent Street, Queen’s Street, Royal Exchange Sq) which had been photographed by myself for reference so that the artwork, done using Procreate, depicting each street would have a consistent angle and flow of movement as if walking through the streets as I had in person.
