BOUQUET BUILDER’, A COSY, 2D SIM GAME.

CREATED BY REBECCA WARD.
PERSONAL SUMMER PROJECT

Bouquet Builder is a 2D simulation game allowing the player to take on the role of a florist fulfilling your daily duties in their shop, completing orders by arranging flower bouquets for customers. As the player’s business grows, they will unlock new flower types to work with and customer demand grows, giving them more intricate floral arrangements to tackle.

ABOUT MY WORK

Bouquet Builder was created during the summer break between Year 3 and Year 4 of my BSc Immersive Systems Design course at GSA. I had no  brief or prompt for this project and utilised my own free reign to experiment with creating a game that I, myself, would quite enjoy playing. My focus , with this in mind, was to create a visually appealling, artistic aesthetic that could be interacted with in a calming, simulation gameplay format.

Hence, I designed the game around the player acting as a florist completing work in their shop. This including accepting and fulfilling specific bouquet orders, from the admin side to the physical bouquet building and shipping. The player can also unlock new flower types and decorative wraps as the game progresses and orders grow in demand.

When each order is taken, the player must select the correct flower combination and decorative bouquet wrap before completing the order, where the system will check if the player has got all the components correct by cross-referencing the specific order asset components, and either confirm for shipping or throw away the bouquet into the trash to start fresh.
